LONG DISTANCE, LONG SMILES — STORM-QUICKENED TRAILS AND BIG PERFORMANCES AT MEDUNO WMMRC 2025
34 km • D+ 1850 m • From Meduno’s heart to the slopes of Monte Valinis
Meduno (Italy), 30 August 2025 — Day two of the World Masters Mountain Running Championships brought the Long Distance race to the Friulian foothills: 34 kilometres and 1,850 metres of climbing that stitched together town lanes, old hamlets and the shoulder of Monte Valinis.
After yesterday’s downpours, the trails woke up slick and playful; the downhills had angles that rewarded nerve and neat footwork. The forecast held true for most of the day—warmth around 20°C—before storm showers rolled in just as the leaders hit the final three kilometres. The rain arrived in brisk pulses, never disruptive, and for many it felt like a gift: fresher air, faster feet, bigger grins.
