Carol LaFayette-Boyd | Canada

At the age of 50, in 1992, Carol began participating in Masters Track and Field. She presently holds 8 World indoor records and 10 World outdoor records. She is the first Canadian of African descent to receive the WMA Best Female Athlete Award in 2018.

Carol has received several provincial and national awards also. Carol is in the Regina Sports Hall of Fame (2014) and Canadian Masters Sport Hall of Fame (2012). She was the Saskatchewan representative for CMA for 15 years.

She has received at least seven community awards for her volunteer involvement. She was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Regina in 2021.

Carol’s daughter and son passed away in 2013 and 2014. She married Lemuel Boydin 1984 and he passed away in 2015. Carol credits her faith that has taken her through the passing of her loved ones. She is the proud grandmother of three and great grandmother of four.

She also received the WMA Best Female Athlete Award again in 2022 at the age of 80. In 2022 Carol was chosen as the World Masters Athletics Overall Female Athlete of the Year.
