Julie Brims | Australia

Julie, youngest of five (5) children, was born January 7, 1966 and raised in Maryborough, a small regional city of 20,000 people in country Queensland, Australia. Julie began her Masters Athletics career in 2002 at age 36. Since 2007 Julie has competed in six (6) WMA Outdoor and three (3) Indoor World Championships. She has achieved outstanding results in the sprints and relays medaling in every event entered resulting in 13 Gold, 4 Silver and 9 Bronze medals in individual events. In the relays she has 9 Gold and 3 Silver medals and was a member of teams that set World Records in W35, W40, 45, W50, W55 4 x 100m and W45 4 x 400m.

On Track Highlights
Being fortunate to be coached by the late (2023) legendary Australian National Sprint-Hurdles/Jumps coach Gary Bourne.
Obtaining Australian Open National Athletics qualifying times and competing at Open Nationals as a W55 athlete (100, 200m) in 2021.
2021 W55 age group setting World Records in the 100m (12.24s), 200m (25.07s, first W55 under 26.0s) and 400m (59.36s, first W55 under 60.0s).
2022 Flag Bearer for Australian Team at the opening ceremony Tampere.
2024 Induction into the Australian Masters Athletics Hall of Fame.
2024 One of inaugural inductees into the World Masters Athletics “Gallery of Champions”.

Off Track Highlights
2023 Inducted into the “Walk of Achievers” in her hometown, with a footpath plaque bearing her name and her sport “World Masters Athletics”.
Advocacy against Ageism in Sport appearing live on National television and radio.
