IAU and WMA signed a long term agreement

WMA 100k Championships

IAU and WMA took the opportunity and sign during 31st IAU 100 km World Championships long term partnership agreement. It is an extension of existing agreement where from now on the WMA Championships will take place at the 50 km, 100 km and 24Hr World Championships.

This is a very important partnership for both organizations as there is significant number of Masters athletes that continually run at the IAU Championships.

“The new contract with the IAU more closely supports the fundamental principles that we as WMA follow in our track and field championships. It gives us a closer working relationship with the LOC and the IAU at each championship.” – WMA President Margit Jungmann

Both organizations will facilitate IAU World Championships to accommodate the WMA Championships as much as possible. The agreement was signed by IAU President Nadeem Khan and WMA President Margit Jungmann together with the former WMA Vice-president Brian Keaveney and IAU General Secretary Hilary Walker.

“The collaboration between WMA and IAU has always been a very productive one. We are always looking at providing the best international platform for our athletes. The consensus on the agreement to include 50km World Championships is an extension of that very platform to our 50km runners.” – IAU President Nadeem Khan
