As the Australian Masters Championships are on their final day of competition (29th) they are reaping the rewards of seeing an increase in participation figures with just under 1000 athletes entered into over 3000 events. It is a record breaking entry (READ HERE).

As posted by Janet Naylon in the article, one of the stars of the Australian masters event will be Jim Sinclair from Victoria who At 94 years of age is the oldest competitor. Contesting the four sprint events and whom has just returned from the World Indoor Championships where he won the bronze medal in the M90 60m sprint.

 

This is an upward trend we are seeing everywhere.  Not least at both our recent World Championships in Malaga and more recent Torun which witnessed record entries not only from athletes but also from the number of countries entered.
