There were eight Athletes of Masters age, involved in the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow this past weekend, once again proving that age is no barrier!
The best performance came from Olha Saladuka from Ukraine (W35) who won a magnificent Bronze Medal in the Women’s Triple Jump.
She set a personal best in the Qualifying Round with 14.40 and was the leading qualifier. She improved to 14.47 in the Final to win the Bronze medal.
The distance obtained (14.47) places her 8th on this year’s IAAF performance list. GB’s Yamile Aldama holds the European and World Masters Records with 14.82.
GB’s Nathan Douglas (M36)
GB’s Nathan Douglas (M36) had a good 7th place in the Men’s Triple Jump final with 16.33 metres, however, went longer in qualifying with 16.48 (34th on this year’s IAAF list).
Other performers recorded the following.
- Dmyto Demyanyuk (M35 UKR) no heighted in the High Jump qualifying.
- Fabrizio Donata (M42 ITA) did not make the final with 15.93 in the qualifying round.
- Lorene Bazolo (W35 POR) ran 7.33 in the 60 metres heat and was slower in the semi-final with 7.35. She did not make the final.
- Tetyana Petyuk (W37 UKR) did 2:05.85 in the 800 metres heat but did not progress further.
- Patricia Savrapio (W36 ESP) did 13.67 in the Triple Jump but did not reach the final.
- Ursula Ruiz (W35 ESP) did 16.41 in the Shot but did not reach the final.
