Masters athletics we’re his passion: Dieter Massin celebrates its 80th birthday

The former German Vice president for sports for all became elected by European Veterans Athletics, now EMA, as their Vice President at their General Assembly in Cesenatico in 1998, and he then became President in 2002 following that wonderful Championship he put on in Potsdam. As President he became the European member on the IAAF Masters Committee, where during the ten years he was there, he made an enormous contribution.

At the same time he served in WMA as representative for Europe. His workload on masters’ athletics was huge – drafting out and overseeing a totally new Constitution for EMA, making changes to the bidding process. Conducting General Assemblies and organising Championships. In both, EMA and WMA, he especially took care of the anti-doping fight and clean sports.

But now, it is time for him to sit back, glass of champagne in hand, and reflect on the enjoyment and health benefits that all his hard work has brought to so many people worldwide.

Dieter Massin, we send you our good wishes for a great day.
